Operations Management Midterm

Study system compiled from the NMIMS Operations Management syllabus, the Russell & Taylor textbook and the lecture presentations. The Mid-Term Test portion is Units 01–07; Units 08–10 remain here for the Term End Examination.

⚠ Updated from your faculty's briefing · 2 September

The portion is Units 1–7, not 1–10, and there is no numerical solving — questions are application-oriented instead. Units 1–7 have been rewritten accordingly, with point-wise exam answers and verified video links added to every concept.

Units 8, 9 and 10 are unchanged and remain available for the Term End Examination. Read the full Exam Briefing →

TEST PORTION: UNITS 01–07 MID-TERM: 20 MARKS PATTERN: 2 / 3–4 / 5 MARK QUESTIONS NUMERICALS: NOT ASKED — APPLICATION ONLY
STUDY METHODOLOGY

For every concept: 01 Understand Concept → 02 Simple Explanation → 03 Example → 04 Important Points → 05 Exam-Ready Answer → Point-Wise Exam Answer → 06 Possible Questions → 07 Common Mistakes → Watch → 08 Source Verification.

In Units 1–7 the Point-Wise Exam Answer is the one to write from — it follows the exact structure the official SYNOPTICS answer keys use: definition first, then points or a comparison table, then a named example, then the managerial implication.

Every citation is clickable — e.g. p. 230 or Slide 16 — and opens the exact textbook page or lecture slide in a panel on the right. Use ←/→ to page through, and Esc to close.

Quantitative Scope & Methodology

Units 01–06 are concept-first: definitions, models, trade-offs, and case applications with one illustrative calculation per quantitative model (location factor rating, centre-of-gravity, load-distance in Unit 04, and line balancing in Unit 05). From Unit 07 onward, worked quantitative models (EOQ, EBQ, quantity discounts, reorder point, job sequencing) are solved step-by-step with formulas and parameters matching Russell & Taylor.
